DIMAPUR, MAY 9 (NPN): Close on the heels of the Joint Council Forum– comprising NST colony, Churches colony and Middle point, condemning a students’ body for locking down of a business establishment at Churches Colony, the Churches Colony Council (CCC) has strongly condemned the alleged forceful entry and lockdown of a business establishment within the colony by Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) over allegations related to business practices.
In a press statement, the council asserted that no student body, union, organisation or pressure group had the authority to take the law into its own hands or resort to coercion and intimidation under any pretext. The council maintained that forceful closure of business establishments was unlawful, unacceptable and amounted to a direct challenge to the authority of the government, district administration and law enforcement agencies.
It stated that matters relating to alleged business malpractice and other such issues fell strictly within the jurisdiction of competent government authorities and lawful agencies. The council stressed that any grievance or allegation should be addressed through due legal process and brought before the appropriate authorities for investigation and necessary action in accordance with the law. CCC further urged the law enforcement agencies and district administration to take serious cognizance of the incident, conduct a thorough inquiry and initiate appropriate legal action against those involved in unlawful acts that threaten public order and undermine the rule of law.
Reiterating its stand, the council asserted that Churches Colony would not tolerate any form of unlawful intimidation, unauthorised enforcement or actions that disturb peace and normal public life within its jurisdiction. It added that the rule of law must prevail at all times.
