Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS) has asserted that the whole ENPO region will face problems and unrest amongst the peoples unless the tribes learn to co-exist with one another.
Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) comprises of six major tribes – Chang, Konyak, Khiamniungan, Phom, Sangtam, and Yimchunger.
In a press release, CKS president, Nungsanglemba Chang, said ENPO area has four districts viz Tuensang, Mon, Kiphire, Longleng and also Noklak district was under consideration for official inauguration.
He said each of the Eastern Nagaland tribes may have different backgrounds, cultures and customs and histories, but the entire area/region was one entity. “In today’s context, we need to ‘live together in peace’ for all round development,” said CKS president who also maintained that through peaceful co-existence and mutual understanding all issues could be settled.
Chang said the region had experienced, from time to time, the raising of the contentious issue of inter tribal land disputes leading to loss “of innocent public from both sides”, which can not be compensated for. He said that “sometimes small issue of land or boundary encroachment by vested individuals makes big issue between two neighbouring tribes and it keep us divided for years to come.”
CKS president asserted that there would be no meaning to having unions/organisations at any level without peaceful coexistence.
