CVYS reaffirms ban on hunting and wildfires

DIMAPUR

The Chümoukedima Village Youth Society (CVYS) has reiterated its standing resolution banning all activities that threaten ecological balance and public order within the village jurisdiction.
In a directive issued by CVYS president Sedevikho Tsükru and general secretary Phrochüzolie Visezo, residents and visitors have been cautioned to strictly comply with the following measures:
Ban on hunting and firearms possession: CVYS has imposed a total ban on hunting and the possession of firearms within the village.
Offenders will face penalties starting from Rs. 1,00,000, depending on the severity of the violation. Licensed firearms used for hunting will be confiscated and recommended for license cancellation. Unlicensed weapons, including air rifles and other hunting implements, will be confiscated and destroyed on the spot.
Prohibition on Wildfires: Individuals found responsible for starting wildfires will be liable to pay fines of Rs. 5,00,000 or more, based on the extent of damage caused. Legal action will be initiated under relevant laws.
Visitor Regulation at Old Chümoukedima Heritage Village: The Old Chümoukedima Heritage Village (Highway Bypass) is off-limits to trekkers, picnic groups, and sightseers after 6 pm due to incidents of vandalism, defacement of public property, and accidents.
Visitors are urged to maintain cleanliness, dispose of plastic waste responsibly, and adhere to signboard instructions, including speed limits and the prohibition of underage driving.
Restriction on Loitering after 8 pm: In light of increasing incidents of robbery, drug peddling, and public nuisance, loitering without valid reason after 8 pm is strictly prohibited. CVYS youth volunteers have been instructed to verify the identity and purpose of individuals found within the village during restricted hours.
CVYS has appealed to all residents and visitors to cooperate in preserving the natural environment, upholding community discipline, and ensuring the safety and dignity of Chümoukedima Village.
