DDMA Kohima plans for monsoon preparedness

DIMAPUR: District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kohima, led by Deputy Commissioner and chairman B Henok Buchem, held a meeting on May 21, 2025, at the DC Office, Kohima to discuss monsoon preparedness.
According to DIPR report, the meeting followed a video conference with Chief Secretary J Alam, and officials from the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA).
At the meeting, key discussions such as road connectivity, medical and food supplies, and emergency response plans were covered.
With the monsoon approaching, road conditions were identified as a major concern. Officials stressed the importance of maintaining emergency routes, particularly in case of landslides. Clearing clogged drainage systems in urban areas was highlighted as a priority to prevent waterlogging.
The meeting also addressed the need to regulate truck loads and the vulnerability of villages with only one access road. To improve preparedness, a mass social work initiative will be conducted soon. Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) councillors will oversee their respective colonies, while various district departments will ensure the maintenance of main roads.
The discussions emphasized the need for timely action to reduce monsoon-related risks and ensure smooth emergency response in Kohima district.
