Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DE&S) conducted Training of Trainers (ToTs) on the “Revamped Civil Registration System (CRS) Office of the Registrar General of India (ORGI) Portal” on May 6.
Speaking at the event, director of Economics and Statistics, Neidilhou Keditsu emphasized the significance of birth and death certificates as crucial documents defining an individual’s life and serving as primary population data sources for the state.
He informed that the department has established online birth and death registration since 2022, and completed registration for all 1471 registrars across districts and villages.
He further expressed the hope that the introduction of the new ORGI portal will enhance digital service delivery.
It may be noted that the ORGI is the nationwide implementation of the portal, and the portal has been implemented in Nagaland for issuing birth and death certificates.
ORGI has developed standardized software for registration and certificate issuance nationwide, accessible at crsorgi.gov.in with a unique registration number.
Director Keditsu therefore encouraged district Registrars to familiarize themselves with the updated portal for improved service delivery in Nagaland. The training was conducted by Senior Research Officers Renu Shekhawat and Vimal Kaul from ORGI, focusing on birth reporting and registration topics categorized by age brackets and digitization of old records. The program was facilitated by Economics & Statistics Officer, Chonbeni Patton.
