DIMAPUR, MAY 15 (NPN): A one‑day training programme on “Scientific Agricultural Practices” for fish farmers of Niuland district was held on May 15 at Hovishe village, organised by the DF&AR. Altogether 30 fish farmers attended the training. Addressing the programme, DFO Dr. Amenla emphasised the importance of adopting scientific management practices in fish farming. She encouraged farmers to upgrade knowledge, participation and skills to achieve self‑sustenance in fish production. Dr. Amenla also highlighted schemes such as Kisan Credit Card (KCC), CMMFI and NFDF, and urged village authorities to promote ethical awareness and conservation of fish resources by restricting trespassing and unregulated fishing.
Resource person Asavi Rume, AFI, spoke on pond management and socio‑economic upliftment of fish farmers. A practical session was conducted by Ayutemjen, AFI, who demonstrated pH estimation, pond liming and fish feed formulation techniques.
