DSSU calls for banning tobacco products

 Taking the health of people into consideration amid the pandemic, Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU) has urged district administration and public to integrate in order to temporarily suspend and to inspect sale, advertisement and billboard hoardings of tobacco products.

In a press release, DSSU president L Kivipu Shohe and finance secretary Holloto Yeptho claimed that a packet of Guthka that costs Rs. 8 and Rs. 18 respectively was being sold at Rs. 15-30 which it termed as “daylight robbery”. The union has urged the law enforcing agency to intervene and check the business establishments selling tobacco products beyond the fixed price.

It also urged upon the general public to refrain from using tobacco and its products and stressed on how tobacco affected the health and weakened the immune system.
