ANPSA Kohima felicitates hslc and hsslc toppers
ANPSA Kohima: All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA) Kohima unit organised a felicitation programme for the toppers of HSLC and HSSLC on May 4 at Christ King Higher Secondary School (CKHSS) Kohima.
Speaking as the guest speaker, joint CEO, NSDMA Home Department, Johnny Ruangmei, highlighted the importance of an academic curriculum beyond conventional education.
With accelerating globalisation and a faster rate of technological developments, Ruangmei said development of technology was reshaping the future of the world. He underscored the importance of judiciously utilising resources to empower and skill young people, so they are prepared for the future.
“The future that they are going to live in will be a totally different world from what we are living in today. Are we spending our resources creating a future ready generation?” he asked.
Ruangmei then motivated the students to be resilient, curious, competent and inculcate good values to achieve their set goals. He encouraged them to utilise the modern technology to excel in their academics.
He also lauded the teachers and parents for motivating the toppers to achieve their goals. Lauding the ANPSA Kohima team, he encouraged them to continue to organise such events to encourage the student community.
The programme was chaired by cultural secretary, Keyokhole Naomi Ltu, invocation was pronounced by adviser Zhopota, the welcome address was delivered by vice president, Fr Innocent Panmei, short speeches on behalf of HSSLC and HSLC were delivered by Keletsole Mekro (Rank 1 HSSLC Arts) and Ketsino Jane Frances (Rank 2 HSLC) respectively, a special number was presented by Genesis School Kohima and vote of thanks was by general secretary, VJ Thomas. The unit felicitated a total of 33 students, 27 in HSLC and six in HSSLC.

CHSS DIMAPUR FETES TOPPERS

CHSS: Christian Higher Secondary School (CHSS) Dimapur felicitated its HSLC and HSSLC 2024 toppers on May 4 at the Covenant Hall. The toppers include HSLC: Mhachilo Yanthan (1st Rank) and Suruchi Bharti (8th Rank); HSSLC: Tokali H Awomi (3rd Rank Arts), Maysha Pathan Khan (9th Rank Arts), Koyel Sutradhar (5th Rank Com.)
In his felicitation speech, CHSS principal, S. Moatemsu Walling congratulated the achievers besides leaving a challenge for the present class 10 and 12 students and the boys in particular to achieve and benchmark success.
International Firefighters’ Day
MITE Kohima: The Red Ribbon Club of Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE) Kohima commemorated “International Firefighters’ Day” on May 4 with officer in-charge, South Fire Station Kohima, Sedevizo Hibo as the special guest. In his speech, Hibo spoke about the significance of “International Firefighters’ Day”, the importance of fire safety, and highlighted the firefighters’ prayer.
The programme included various competitions like essay, poetry recitation, poster making and costume display. The programme ended with a brief demonstration on the correct usage of fire extinguishers.
NSS UNIT OF GHSS MELURI VISITS ORPHANGE HOME

GHSS Meluri: National Service Scheme Office (NSS) volunteers, Government Higher Secondary School (NSS) Meluri organised a visit to Hope Children Home, an orphanage home, on May 4. During the visit, short speeches were delivered by PO NSS Rhutsomu (Angelo) Pfithu and probation officer HCH, Tasi Nyusou. The volunteers also interacted and played indoor games with the children. They also initiated “MyBharat” registration.
‘Sustainable Development Goals’ at sju

SJU: A one-day national seminar on “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): A perspective of north east India” was organised by the department of social work in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), St Joseph University (SJU) on May 3 at the university auditorium.
Resource person, assistant professor, programme of social work and associate dean, faculty of humanities and social sciences, Assam Down Town University, Guwahati, Dr. Bijoy Das, highlighted the status and performance of all the eight states of north east India in the index of the SDGs. He deliberated on the challenges faced by this region, and prospects of achieving the 17 goals and suggested various approaches to achieve the goals by 2030.
The national seminar received 23 papers from three States of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
PGC parting social
PGC: Phek Government College (PGC) organised its “41st annual parting social” on May 3 with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Phek, John Tsulise Sangtam as the guest of honour.
Exhorting the students at the first session, DC Phek said college was just a “gateway to the real world” and that they have to fight their own battle in this competitive world. He advised the outgoing students to be determined, preserver and work hard to attain success.
Sangtam reminded the students that success may be delayed, but determination and hard work would surely bring them success.
The programme was chaired by Shetsolu Keyho of BA 2 semester, invocation by Dr Levinu Sakhrie, welcome note was delivered by PGC principal, Dr T. Tiakaba Jamir, greetings by Phek Town Chakhesang Students Union president, Vezovo Rhakho, speeches on behalf of outgoing students were delivered by Khrushehu Hoshi and Vepoto Dozo while Veluhu Neinu and the department of economics gave special performances, a vote of thanks was delivered by PGC Student Union vice president, Rayi Veswu.
