Enforcement drive conducted on drug license in Mokokchung

DIMAPUR

In a bid to regulate pharmacies as per the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, a joint enforcement team comprising the Mokokchung District administration, Police department, and Chief Medical Office conducted a drive on June 16 to check the status of recently cancelled drug licenses in Mokokchung town.
According to a press release from DPMU Mokokchung, several pharmacies, including Lucky Drugs (Sangtemla ward), Faith Medicine (Sangtemla ward), Longkumer Pharmacy (Sangtemla ward), JR Aren Pharmacy (Dilong ward), and Life Pharmacy (Dilong ward), were found operating in violation of Section 18(c) of the Act. The team seized medicines from these unauthorized outlets under Section 31(ii) of the Act. Authorities warned that further inspections would be carried out regularly, and violators would face strict action as per the law. Meanwhile, the NCORD-MKG inspection team also checked CCTV installations at medical outlets and directed them to display clear labels stating, “To be sold only on prescription” for Schedule H and H1 drugs.
