Fire destroys eight housesat Phaipijang village

A major fire broke out at Phaipijang village in Dimapur on Thursday around 8:34 a.m, destroying eight kacha houses and leaving around 30 to 50 families displaced. After the outbreak of the fire was reported, three fire tenders from the Central Fire Station, Dimapur, were immediately dispatched to the site.
According to fire officials, no casualties were reported in the incident. The blaze was put under control in approximately one hour and seven minutes.
Fire officials also highlighted the importance of providing accurate location details during emergency calls, noting that even a few minutes’ delay can make a significant difference in controlling a fire. In this case, the responding teams initially faced some difficulty locating the exact colony before reaching the scene.
At the time of filing this report, it was learnt that the fire was caused by a burning agarbatti (incense stick). The total extent of property loss is yet to be determined.
