Gorkha bodies condemn alleged rape in Mkg

Gorkha Union Mokokchung (GUM) and Gorkha Students’ Union, Mokokchung (GSUM) have strongly condemned the alleged rape of a girl by one Sumon Subba at Sungkomen Ward, Mokokchung on September 30.
GUM president Prahlad Gurung and GSUM president Prabhat Rai said that “such barbaric and inhuman act” had no place in a civilized society.
GUM and GSUM have appealed to the responsible authority to ensure that accused was dealt under the provision of law and deliver justice without any delay.
Further, the two bodies urged the district administration and law enforcing agency to take exemplary punishment to prevent such crime in future.
Reaffirming their unwavering commitment to upholding safety, modesty and rights of women, GUM and GSUM affirmed to continue to raise voice against all form of crime in future.
Expressing deep anguish and outrage over the incident, the two bodies also affirmed solidarity with the victim and her family during time of immense pain.
