Advisor prisons, printing and stationery H Haiying has condemned the firing incident that reportedly occurred at International Trade Centre (ITC) Dan under Noklak district on Tuesday.
According to sources, the firing, which occurred in the early morning, was suspected to have been carried out by some groups from across the border.
In a press release, advisor prisons, printing and stationery H Haiying, who represents 56 Noklak constituency, termed the incident as “totally condemnable” and said “such malicious and cowardly act” should be condemned by all peace-loving citizens.
Questioning the reason for targeting the area, Haiying said the latest incident was the seventh after the establishment of ITC Dan wherein peace and tranquillity of citizens were disturbed. Expressing concern over fear psychosis created by such incident amongst villagers, he asserted that firing, threatening or intimidating the villagers would not bring any solution.
He said that those people with “nefarious intent” had no place in the peace-loving land, adding that such unwarranted and provoking action should be stopped once and for all.
According to advisor, the ITC at Dan was established by the state government in 1996 for trade and cultural exchange between India and Myanmar and not for exchange bullets and shedding blood.
Stating that the government was working tirelessly to make ITC-Dan a trading hub for the two nations, he said “such aspirations will turn into reality only when peace prevail in the region.”
Meanwhile, the advisor has appealed to the state government to immediately create administration HQ, police station, village guards at ITC-Dan Pangsha in order to safeguard the life, property and development of the region.
