With an objective to equip teachers and students, departments, educational institutions, and organisations have been organising various programmes and trainings.
SCC: An inter-departmental seminar was conducted by the Research Committee of Sao Chang College (SCC) on April 1 at the College Conference Hall for the faculty of the college. During the seminar, assistant professor and research scholar (department of Sociology), Y Toninaro Chongpho presented a paper on the topic, “Historicizing the emergence of backward tribe in a tribal state: A study of Chang Naga Tribe” and assistant professor (department of Zoology), Dr. Limamanen Phom presented a paper on the topic, “Parkinson’s Disease: Lessons from Drosophila Model”. The seminar was chaired by assistant professor (department of English), Dr. Soyimla Akum and vote of thanks was delivered by coordinator, research committee, Dr. T Lal Veda Chandra Kumar. Rapporteurs for the seminar were assistant professor (department of Education), Chideno Shitire and assistant professor (department of chemistry), Dr. Aola Supong. A total of 23 faculty members attended the seminar.
MC Piphema: Modern College, Piphema department of history and department of economics jointly organised “The Stage: A Multi Talent Show” on April 1 at the College Indoor Stadium-cum -Auditorium.
The college informed that over 30 students competed for the winning title, showcasing diverse talents ranging from singing, dancing to stand-ups. MC administrator, John Besii, while exhorting the students, stressed on the importance of identifying ones naturally gifted talents. Bessi said, “those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened makes all the difference”, while also challenging the students that there was no place for the shy in this fast-moving world. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from MC assistant professor department of sociology, Verahu Neinu.
LC: Logos College held its 21st Convocation Exercise on March 31 under the theme, “Be a Prophetic Voice” (Jer. 1:7-8) with the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, USA, Chaplin Rev. Dr. Nancy Lynn Nethercott as the convocation Speaker.
The college informed that Dr. Nancy is the great-grandniece of J.E. Tanquist, the missionary to Nagaland in the early 1900, who also was the first to translate the Bible into Tenyidie. He is the founder of Angami Literature Committee at Ura Academic, and also started the first Bible School in Kohima. The commissioning prayer for the graduating students was pronounced by Logos College president, Rev. Dr. N. Paphino.
During the ceremony, graduating students were also presented with prestigious awards. Manju Lama bagged the “Logos Award”, which was awarded to the candidate excelling in the areas of academic, spiritual, and campus life. She also bagged the “Academic Award” for the Master of Divinity, and the “Language Award”. The “Academic Award” for the Bachelor of Theology was awarded to Lipokmenla Changkiri while the “Best Preaching Award” was given to Kelhounguzo from Master of Divinity, and Kipa Chuku from Bachelor of Theology. The “Most-Improved Student Award” was given to Thehiechütuo Metha from Bachelor of Theology. Altogether 22 students graduated in their respective courses.
DoSE &SS Nagaland: Department of School Education (DoSE) in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha (SS) Nagaland conducted a three-day Hindi Teachers’ orientation programme for the teachers of Dimapur, Niuland, and Chumoukidima districts which culminated on March 31. A total of 412 Hindi teachers registered for the three-day programme.
NITI Dimapur: Free Skill Enhancement & Employability Development (SEED) training was conducted for the second time in the month of March 2023 as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by the Nationalist Institute of Innovation & Technology (NITI) at Marwari Patti Centre.
