India becoming a Hindu state: Therie

Former minister K Therie has alleged that India was changing towards a Hindu state. In a statement, Therie alleged that the socialist and secular principles had been removed from the Constitution of India, while religious divide had become a reality in India.

He said religious projects were now projected as national programmes, spending taxpayers’ money. Further, he alleged that eliminating Christians from India had been the motive of the BJP-led government since it took over the reins in 2014, adding that Christians in the cow belts were no longer safe to identify themselves as Christian.

To galvanise Hindutva in the Northeast, he mentioned that the Kuki-Zo issue was also the process of eliminating Christianity in the nation, adding that RSS/BJP had chosen Manipur because of the political and religious dominant position of the Meiteis who were mostly Hindu.
According to Therie, the plan was not sudden but very well pre-conceived and organised, with BJP Rajya Shaba member himself being the chairman of the rebel forces. He accused the BJP government in Manipur of allowing Arambai Teggol and Meitei Leepun to loot more than 10,000 sophisticated arms and over six lakh ammunition to finish the Christians.

He said they had the support of the government and had burnt 29 villages to ashes and destroyed over 350 churches. Therie claimed that 96 Christian dead bodies were still lying in the mortuary, with Christians living in Imphal Valley having lost material properties and dwellings.

Pointing out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not shown any concern in the past eight months, Therie said he was standing adamant looking sideways at Manipur and accused him of being modern Nebuchadnezzar. He said there were only three Christians who defied his order. In this backdrop, he asked whether Christians of Nagaland should continue to support the BJP government at the Centre.
