Japanese Ambassador to India Hiroshi Suzuki is scheduled to arrive in Nagaland on Tuesday (May 7) on a two-day visit
According to DIPR, the Ambassador will take part in the soft inauguration of the Kohima Peace Memorial and Eco Park, Kohima on May 8, located near Capital Culture Hall.
This will include the laying of the foundation stone and a ceremonial plantation at 8 a.m., the DIPR report stated.
The programme will be attended by chief minister Neiphiu Rio, host of legislators and senior officials of the state government.
He will then visit the Kohima War Cemetery, where the chief minister and the Ambassador will lay wreaths.
Later in the day, the Ambassador and other Japanese delegates will visit the Kohima Cathedral and the World War II Museum at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.
The Ambassador will depart on May 9
The visit is expected to further strengthen the cultural and diplomatic ties between Japan and Nagaland.
State chief minister Neiphiu Rio, who was recently in Japan, is expected to return on May 7.
The visit of the Japanese Ambassador to Nagaland is considered significant, especially in light of Rio’s recent trip to Japan.
