KASU serves ultimatum on DoSE

Expressing dismay over the shortage of teachers in Government High School (GHS), Khaghaboto, the Khaghaboto Area Students’ Union (KASU) has served an ultimatum on the Department of School Education (DoSE) to make immediate arrangements of teachers especially science teacher within seven days.

In an open letter to the director school education, KASU president Kheto Ayemi and education secretary, Viwoka Awomi said GHS, Khaghaboto was the only high school that caters to educational needs of 17 villages under its jurisdiction. However, the union lamented GHS, Khaghaboto has been functioning without adequate teachers for the past so many months. 

It pointed out that school has been left with only one maths teacher (due to retire in January, 2019) after another maths teacher (under RMSA) was transferred to GHS, Chumukedima village without any replacement.

KASU also stated currently the school was without science teacher following the transfer of lone science teacher (under RMSA) qualified in the state teacher examination was transferred to Thenyizu on September 25, 2018. It further, pointed out that the school was functioning with one Hindi teacher.

In light of the above, KASU has appealed to the department to provide two permanent teachers for each subject mentioned above and deploy science teacher immediately.

With Class VIII and Class IX final examination scheduled on November 20 and 26 respectively, KASU has urged the concerned department to make immediate arrangements especially for the science teacher within seven days. Failure to do so, KASU warned that it would have no other option, but boycott science examination for which the department would be held solely responsible.
