Chief medical officer (CMO), Kiphire, Dr. R. Chubala Aier launched the district level Social Awareness and Actions to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully (SAANS) campaign and observance of World Pneumonia Day at District Hospital, Kiphire on November 14.
According to District media officer, Haichikambe Pame, the CMO in her speech spoke on the significance of the day, and stated that World Pneumonia Day was started in 2009 to spread awareness and educate people to combat Pneumonia.
Stating that pneumonia was both preventable and treatable, Dr. Aier requested everyone to give their best efforts to educate families and communities and spread awareness about the deadly disease.
The CMO also said that SAANS campaign will be carried out in the district extensively.
Meanwhile, a clinical session was conducted where orientation to healthcare workers on SAANs was taken up by deputy chief medical officer, Dr. Kolhitso Khalo.
