A “vertical garden” at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) installed by the Kohima Forest Division (KFD) under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) was inaugurated by the chief conservator of forest, department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Nagaland, Supongnukshi, Friday.
A press release by KFD informed that speaking at a brief programme after the inauguration, Supongnukshi commended the medical team of NHAK for providing their services to the people of the state.
Mentioning that many external surroundings influence one’s mental and psychological health, he said a good and healthy environment with good surroundings were important factors for recovery of patients.
Supongnukshi hoped that the installation of the vertical garden with improved air quality and aesthetic beauty would aid in the well-being of everyone, including the visitors to the hospital. NHAK managing director, Dr. Sendimeren Aonok, said that there was a bond between the medical faculty and nature, and they complement each other, noting that a sense of wellbeing was developed as one enters the hospital and sees the beauty of the flowers and the plants. He further lauded the efforts of everyone involved in the concept of the “vertical garden” at NHAK.
The inauguration was done in the presence of DFO, Kohima, Chisayi, DCF, Kohima, Dr. Sevono Seletsu and medical staff of NHAK. The programme was chaired by co-convenor Kayakalp, NHAK, Dr. Neiphrezo Sorünuo, while NHAK Chaplain Vikepu Tepa blessed the inauguration by invoking God’s blessing. Meanwhile, KFD informed that the “vertical garden” was installed at NHAK starting from the entrance, two-wheeler parking lot, ICU and between the wards within the hospital premises.
