As part of the annual Aoleang Monyu cum Mini-Horbill Festival, the Konyaks are all set to attempt a Guinness World Records for the “Largest Traditional Konyak Dance” on April 5, at 11a.m. Local Ground, Mon Town.
In a press note, Konyak Union president, Manlip Konyak said that the third day of the festival would be focused on Konyak women, during which, a troupe of about 5000 Konyak women would dance to the ceremonial song invoking blessings on the tribe and the Festival in traditional attire for at least five minutes.
The mega event is being organised by Konyak Union (KU) in coordination with Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) and Konyak Students Union (KSU) with an aim to preserve the cultural heritage of the people and also to promote tourism.
