Kohima Sahitya Sabha (KSS), P.R. Hill, Kohima, celebrated the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, the legendary singer, composer, lyricist and cultural icon of India, with a commemorative programme held in Kohima.
The event, attended by around 150 participants, paid tribute to Dr. Hazarika’s enduring legacy and his universal message of humanity, which continues to inspire generations across the country and beyond.
Guest speaker, Assistant Professor Dr. Dhrubajyoti Bordoloi from the Department of Management, Nagaland University, spoke on Dr. Hazarika’s life philosophy and artistic contributions.
He highlighted the singer’s role in fostering unity through music and culture.
The cultural programme featured a variety of performances, including songs, dances and poetry recitations, celebrating the rich artistic heritage associated with Dr. Hazarika.
The meeting was anchored by Kohima Sahitya Sabha general secretary Rajat Sarma, while Associate Professor Dr. Pallab Changkakoti of Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, and the president of Kohima Sahitya Sabha presided over the formal proceedings. Colony chairman Mugulhu Phesao also attended the event.
