The ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’, a nationwide pre-kharif campaign initiated by the Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), is set to be launched across the country from May 29 to June 12.
As part of this campaign, KVK Dimapur will conduct the campaign across 144 villages in the districts of Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland in Nagaland. The campaign will be officially launched on May 29, at ICAR-National Research Centre (NRC) on Mithun, with MP S. Supongmeren Jamir gracing the event as the chief guest. The launch is expected to witness the participation of around 400 farmers from the region.
The campaign will deploy four teams, each covering three villages per day, benefiting an estimated 450 farmers daily. These teams will include technical experts and scientists from institutions such as ICAR Nagaland Centre, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Central Agricultural University (CAU) Jalukie, KVKs, and officials from state agriculture and allied departments including horticulture, fisheries, and animal husbandry.
The main objectives of the campaign is to create awareness among farmers about improved agricultural technologies, to make farmers aware about various government schemes and policies on agricultural development, to mobilize the scientific fraternity to have reciprocal learning with farmers and to document grassroots insights for strengthening agricultural research.
