One day farmers’ awareness programme on “application of agromet advisory services & contingency plan on agricultural production” was conducted on January 30 at Anaki Old village under Tuli block.
A press release by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Mokokchung informed that the programme was conducted by District AgroMet Unit (DAMU) of Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa, IMD established at KVK Mokokchung.
The day long programme was spearheaded by senior scientist and head, Dr. Keviletsu Khate, ACTO (horticulture), Khekali Sema, ACTO (pant protection), Martha Chakruno and SMS (agrometeorology), Ningshiyangerla Walling as the resource persons.
The resource persons encouraged the participants to strategically plan their farming activities to boost their agricultural production. They covered the basic fulfilment and avenues for crop and livestock production, plant protection measures amidst the changing weather patterns, identification of some prevalent diseases and pests in the village with its managements aspects, harnessing favourable weather for value addition of location specific seasonal crops, packaging, branding and licensing of value added products for scaling up, emphasis on high value vegetable crops, deliberation of weather forecast parameters.
