Following the fire incident that broke out at Mao Market and MM Market Kohima on February 27, 2023, the Deputy Commissioner & District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kohima chairman has notified that the Mao Market and MM Market/building was unstable and unsafe for human occupation with immediate effect.
In an order, DC & District Disaster Management Authority Kohima chairman Shanavas C cautioned that anybody found violating the office order would be convicted as per Disaster Management Act, 2005, Section 51, Clause (b).
