May 2019 ambush: 4 NSCN (K-YA) members chargesheeted

National Investigation Agency (NIA) Wednesday filed charge sheet before the NIA Special Court, Dimapur, Nagaland against four members of the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) in connection with an ambush on 40 Assam Rifles on May 25, 2019 in Mon wherein two Assam Rifles personnel were killed and four others suffered injuries.

According to a NIA press release, the case was initially registered with Tobu police station under Mon district May 25, 2019, but the agency had re-registered the case on December 21, 2019 and began investigation. 

NIA stated that the investigation of the case has established the involvement of the four accused persons—Yangang Konyak a.k.a. Mopa, Ahon Longphong a.k.a., Sangti, Hongo Konyak and Taiwang Konyak—along with other NSCN (K-YA) cadres in the ambush on Assam Rifles. 

NIA stated that further investigation in connection with the case was on.
