The land dispute over Medical College Mon (MCM) was finally resolved after six organisations which had earlier withdrawn the No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued for the proposed medical college at Chi Ponghoa in Mon district, have recently announced revocation of the withdrawal.
This was stated in a letter to Health & Family Welfare principal director by Chi Village Council (CVC) chairman Manwang, CVC head GB Thoaching, Goching Village Council (GVC) chairman Yahreih, GVC head GB Goaklem, Chi Citizen president T Kaiyan and Chi Union Mon Town president C Leipa. A written assurance was received from Gopang Konyak, landowner of the proposed site for Mon Medical College (Chi Ponghoa), who said he would cooperate with CVC in all matters and that he had no objection on naming of the medical college at Chi.
In view of the “little differences” that existed amongst themselves having been resolved in an amicable manner, the six villages said they have countermanded the withdrawal of NOC announced on March 2 so as to pave the way for establishment of the long-awaited medical college without any hindrance.
In his letter, made available to Nagaland Post, Gopang said all stakeholders have come to an agreement with the medical department including the rate of the land measuring 30 acres over which, the foundation stone for the proposed medical college was laid by Union Health minister Harsh Vardhan on February 26
In the interest of ENPO and the future generations of Nagaland, Gopang said he has willingly decided to part with his land for the development and benefit of the mass. “I assure that there will be no issue or any complain regarding the land by any individual, party, organization.,” he added.
