Merentoshi conferred ‘Ideal Youth MLA’

Advisor to the Chief Minister, Merentoshi R. Jamir MLA has been conferred Aadarsh Yuva Vidhayak 2015 (Ideal Youth MLA) at the 6th annual national conclave of Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (Indian Student Parliament) held on January 28 at MAEER’s MIT Campus, Pune.
According to DIPR report, a grand citation, shawl and trophy was presented to Merentoshi by Speaker, Chhatisgarh State Legislative Assembly, Gaureshankar Agrawal, Former DG, Bureau of Police Research and Development, Dr. Kiran Bedi, IPS (Retd) and Former Union Minister P. Chidambaram. The Ideal Youth MLA is conferred by the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad Foundation to 16 young MLAs from different states and political parties of India. The idea is to encourage youth participation in politics by recognizing the positive change these young legislatures have brought in the society. The Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad was launched in 2011 to revolutionise the mindset of younger generations; and to ignite their spirit to enter public life with a purpose to serve the nation. It is an apolitical outfit and does not engage in any mainstream party politics. It is transforming the outlook of youth and reaffirming their respect for politics, political leaders, democracy and its institutions.
It is raising their extent of sensitivity, awareness, involvement, responsiveness, access and say in political and democratic processes so that a healthy democratic system can be evolved to produce competent public leaders and policy makers, from the grassroots and from all walks of life.
