WOKHA, MAY 24 (NPN): The road stretch near Mother Church, Wokha, connecting several colonies and key establishments, is undergoing construction under the personal initiative of Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA. The stretch had long remained in deplorable condition, causing immense inconvenience to commuters and residents.
The road serves as a vital link to schools, churches, offices, colonies and the National Highway, making it one of the busiest junctions in the town.
Expressing appreciation, representatives of Likya Colony said the construction would greatly benefit the public. Likya Colony chairman Ajamo Kikon noted that the stretch connects important offices including the Block Office and SP Office, besides serving commuters from at least seven to eight colonies daily. He urged citizens not to litter, pointing out that clogged drainages often damage road surfaces, and appealed for cooperation in maintaining cleanliness.
Former Likya Colony chairman Jenithung Erui also expressed gratitude to the MLA for undertaking the work through his personal initiative and not under any government-funded scheme. He termed the effort a much-needed step for the area.
Meanwhile, Ward No. 5 councillor Nzanthung Lotha informed that the construction would cover the stretch from Mother Church to the DBHSS area. He said work would begin in full swing from May 25 and appealed to the public to bear with temporary inconvenience during the week-long construction period.
