Middle Point Council, youth to monitor illegal dumping of garbage

As a part of the Joint Colony Councils’ initiative and as responsible citizens, the Middle Point Council (MPC) and youth are monitoring the illegal dumping of garbage on road side from Clock Tower to Holy Cross police point here for the past two weeks in its effort to curb the menace.

With recent incidents of improper waste disposal by irresponsible individuals and business establishments having raised concern and recognising the urgency of addressing the issue, MPC chairman D Jonah Achumi in a press release disclosed that a series of measures had been implemented aimed at raising awareness and enforcing strict penalties against those found guilty of illegal garbage disposal, as per the directive of the Dimapur Municipal Council.

He stated, “Our Council takes immense pride in its cleanliness drive and sustainability efforts. We believe it is our collective responsibility to ensure that our environment remain free from litter and pollution.” He urged business establishments and residents to cooperate wholeheartedly with the MPC’s efforts and report any incident of illegal garbage disposal promptly.

Achumi also directed some business establishments to deploy surveillance cameras in strategic locations around the area to monitor the illegal dumping of wastes. By working together, he stressed that the community could create a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable living environment for everyone.
