MPC dismayed over women group frisking media persons

Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) has expressed dismay over frisking of press and media personnel by a group of women at Mongsenyimti village while on their way to cover election related event on February 22, 2023.
In a press release, MPC said that the press personnel reasoned with women and produced their ECI Media Identity Cards issued by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nagaland, but the women did not honour. MPC said they also produced their respective media organizational ID Cards but the women were unreasonable.
Further, MPC said the media persons were forced to step out of their vehicles despite ‘Press’ and ‘On Election Duty’ stickers, issued by DC & DEO Mokokchung, were prominently displayed. “The women then conducted unauthorized body frisking of the media personnel and searched the vehicles,” MPC said.
Strongly condemning the “illicit body frisking and unlawful vehicle searching” by the unauthorized group of women at Mongsenyimti village, MPC stated that perpetrators of “such illegitimate acts” were liable for legal prosecution.
MPC has requested the DC & DEO Mokokchung to rein in such unscrupulous elements to ensure that freedom of the press in Mokokchung is not subdued.
