DIMAPUR, MAY 16 (NPN): MSME Promotion Council of India (MSME PCI), Dimapur, organised an outreach and sensitisation programme at Hotel Saramati on Saturday.
Speaking at the programme, district employment officer, Gideon Sumi, emphasized the urgent need for self-reliance and skill development among educated youth, adding that entrepreneurship remains the most viable path forward in a landscape where government employment has become increasingly saturated.
Gideon informed that more than 72,000 educated unemployed youths are registered across Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland districts, including around 23,000 from Dimapur alone. He noted that Government jobs were saturated, while adding that recruitment was strictly through competitive examinations. He encouraged the youth to take up entrepreneurship and said it is not only about earning profit but also about finding solutions and creating opportunities.
Using the metaphor of a butterfly’s transformation, he encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to undergo personal growth. “Just as a butterfly evolves, individuals must transform themselves by developing discipline, embracing creativity, and cultivating resilience”, he said. He advised the youth to identify their strengths and improve their skills before starting any business venture. He added that skills are important for sustaining entrepreneurship and achieving long-term success.
Dwelling on the importance of skills, he noted that skilling was essential for sustaining any entrepreneurial journey. Ending his speech, he asserted that innovative ideas have the potential not only to transform individual lives but also to generate employment and inspire others.
