Kohima Science College, Jotsoma has been accredited A grade with 3.42 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) during the 24th meeting of standing committee of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore on May 2.
According to DIPR report, the CGPA is as per the revised grading system which took effect from July 1, 2016. Since then, 1235 colleges have been assessed by NAAC all over India. Out of these, 343 colleges have been graded ‘A’ or above with 302 colleges in A, 39 colleges in A+, and 2 colleges in A++ Grade.
As per the present list issued by NAAC, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma stands at 46th rank in the entire country which falls within the top 4% colleges of India.
According to the revised grading system of NAAC, a college obtaining CGPA of 3.01-3.50 is graded A, 3.51-3.75 is graded A+ and 3.76-4.00 is graded A++. Those colleges obtaining below 3 points are graded B++, B+, B, C or D.
The NAAC peer team consisting of Prof. Mohammad Raziuddin from Jharkhand, Dr. K. N. Guruprasad from Madhya Pradesh, and Dr. Gourang Chandra Mohanty from Orissa visited the college during April 11-12, 2017.
Meanwhile, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, principal, Dr. I. Anungla Aier, acknowledged the the support and cooperation from various stakeholders, especially the state government, chairperson and members of the governing body, alumni association, parents-teachers association, Jotsoma community, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and the KSC Students’ Union.
