Staff from the office of the Joint Controller of Communication Accounts, NE–II Telecom Circle, carried out physical verification of Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) connections and a socio-economic impact assessment under the amended Bharat Net Programme at Hoito village, Dimapur.
According to Press Information Bureau Kohima, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Government of India, the amended Bharat Net Programme seeks to enhance internet connectivity in rural India by extending optical fibre connectivity to 2.64 lakh Gram Panchayats and approximately 3.8 lakh non-GP villages on demand.
During the interaction, community members shared encouraging feedback on improved internet services and highlighted the positive impact on their daily lives. Villagers noted that reliable FTTH connectivity has strengthened communication, facilitated access to education, online services and banking, and opened new livelihood opportunities.
Meanwhile, residents expressed satisfaction that dependable internet services have reached even remote areas, significantly bridging the digital divide and contributing to socio-economic development.
