East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has notified all business establishments, shops, and commercial institutions under its jurisdiction that no individual or group shall be provided or issued CCTV footage from any private or business premises without proper and legal authorization from concerned department or competent authority.
A press statement by East Dimapur Town Council stated that the directive is issued to maintain confidentiality, public safety, and legal integrity in handling recorded surveillance data, pointing that unauthorized sharing, distribution, or use of CCTV footage shall be treated as violation of data protection norms and may attract appropriate legal action.
All business owners and responsible persons have been directed to strictly adhere to the instruction and cooperate with the authorities when legally required to furnish such footage through proper channels only.
It is also informed to all business establishments and the general public that no individual, group, or organization was permitted to sell or distribute any kind of calendar, lottery, coupon, or similar items to business establishments within the East Dimapur Town Council area without proper authorization from the competent authority.
All business establishments have been strictly advised not to purchase, accept, or entertain any such requests or sales from unauthorized persons or groups.
East Dimapur Town Council maintained that this measure was taken to prevent misuse, illegal collection, and to maintain proper order and transparency within the town jurisdiction.
Any person or group found violating this directive shall be dealt with as per the relevant rules and regulations, the press release by East Dimapur Town Council stated.
