Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) has demanded immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the “brutal and heinous murder” of a 22-year-old woman whose body was found near her residence at Old Ministers’ Hill, Kohima, on October 25.
In a press note, SAPO president Er. Tepul Hopovi and general secretary Tepungosa Sale appealed to the state government and police department to take “immediate and uncompromising action”. “We earnestly implore your swift intervention and decisive measures to ensure that justice is delivered without delay and without compromise,” SAPO stated.
Expressing “unwavering solidarity” with the bereaved family and community, SAPO said it vehemently condemned the egregious act of brutality that violated cultural values, societal norms, and the principles of justice.
It demanded a comprehensive, transparent, and expeditious probe into “this merciless crime” to ensure the perpetrators were swiftly identified and brought to book.
The organization insisted that those responsible be promptly apprehended and vigorously prosecuted under the relevant provisions of law.
It called upon the responsible authorities to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice and ensure that the full weight of the law was applied to those responsible.
SAPO expressed hope that the police would conduct a meticulous and thorough investigation, ensuring that no detail was overlooked. “Such diligence will ensure the case is comprehensively understood by the judiciary, supported by irrefutable evidence, and result in a just conviction,” it stated.
The organization maintained that the tragic incident underscored the urgent need to reinforce security measures and uphold the rule of law. It reaffirmed its commitment to justice and pledged full cooperation with investigating agencies.
SAPO also urged all citizens to report any suspicious activity or information relevant to the case to law enforcement authorities.
