NCF Dibrugarh celebrates 50th anniversary

Naga Christain Fellowship (NCF) Dibrugarh celebrated its 50th anniversary in Dibrugarh on October 31.

Speaking at the programme, E Eshak Hessum, MLA, 47 Aboi assembly constituency stated that the present Naga society had become more fragmented and divided into different groups and associations likewise even churches and student bodies were formed in different names, principles and ideologies.

The MLA underscored that churches and student bodies should be the foundation of peace, unity and integrity and described jubilee as a symbolism of forgiveness, and striving forward with renewed spirit for peace and unity.

Eshak added that the existence of NCF should serve not only as a religious motive but also be a platform for intermingling of ideas and cultural exchange.

Younger generation as he pondered, had become westernised and ignorant of culture and tradition.

According to the MLA, Nagamese should be the medium of communication because such practices could to a large extend, cement the culture more and would signify our unity as Nagas. 

Meanwhile, speaker of the programme, Nagaland Baptist Churches Council (NBCC) general secretary, Reverend Dr. Zelhou Keyho opined that attaining 50 years signified the fulfilment of the vision of Naga Christian Fellowship which was to bring together young people for fellowship. 

Describing Northeast region of India as 183 years old in Christianity, he said 50 years was not far from it and at the same time NCF Dibrugarh was one of the oldest NCF ministries for which one had to be thankful to God. He called on the need to revive and regenerate the history of Christianity of Christianity. 

Commenting that jubilee was a year of liberation, he encouraged the gathering to proclaim God’s faithfulness, justice and righteousness. Similarly, he said while it was a general celebrating, “we fail to personalise the salvation in our lives.”

Greetings were delivered by Dibrugarh deputy commissioner, Pallav Gopal Jha; Nagaland mission movement, coordinator; Sacred Heart Cathedral, Dibrugarh, Rev. Fr. Nicholas Kerketta and others.

Earlier, the guest launched the Jubilee Magazine.

NCF Dibrugarh pastor, Dr. Bendangjungshi delivered the welcome note and responsive reading was led by Tokaho Awomi. Pastor NCF Guwahati Peter Thong led the prayer while a special song was presented by International Students of Dibrugarh University.
