NNC (Parent Body) has welcomed and supported Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and Diampur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) in their effort and endeavour to check and enforce the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the “Naga Homeland” in the entire interest of the Naga people.
In a press release, information and publicity wing of NNC (PB) said that it was the political and social right and termed the move by the student bodies was “correct and right”.
It called upon the Naga people in general, frontal organisations and the villages to support the move as it was a democratic and inherent right from the British India Act of 1873 – “Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation”.
NNC (PB) therefore said Naga people have every right to regulate, implement and exercise the provision to protect, preserve and defend its people and land.
It further stated that the transitional State Government in the “Naga Homeland” must do its part to enforce the Act without any hesitation and reservation “if they are really of the people by the people and for the people”. “Otherwise, the Naga people as a whole have every right to defend and protect its people and land”, the release stated.
