One NSCN (I-M) member has been arrested for allegedly extorting money from Manipur trucks at Old bye-pass, check gate, Kohima, SDPO and PRO Kohima police said Wednesday. PRO said, acting on a tip off, that some unknown were extorting money from Manipur bound trucks at NH 29, mobile unit of DEF Kohima swung into action and apprehended the NSCN (I-M) cadre on November 24, while his accomplice managed to escape.
The arrested was identified as Idrason (32) of Ngamhlung village, Chandel, NSCN (I-M) office assistant, PRO said. A cash of Rs. 12,900 was seized from the arrested person. As per the confessional statement of Indrason, PRO said they were collecting Rs. 200 to 300 each from Manipur bound trucks in the name of NSCN (I-M).
In this connection, a case has been registered at Kohima South P.S.
