NSRLM targets 100 per cent coverage of rural poor by 2024

The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) has set a target of 100 percent coverage of 1,21,260 rural poor households by September 2023 as part of a nationwide social mobilisation campaign.
Delivering his keynote address and presentation on Vision 2025 of the NSRLM during the State-level Annual Action Plan (AAP) roll-out workshop for 2023-2024 being held at RD Conference here from Tuesday to April 20, NSRLM chief operating officer (CEO) Rollan Lotha said the Mission was looking at 85 model cluster level federations (MCLFs) evolving as cooperative societies operating independently as self-managed, self-reliant and financially sustainable societies towards creation of wealth in an equitable gender-just society supported by an enabling ecosystem to realise their full potential of social and economic empowerment of rural households through SHGs.
He further highted the key focus area wherein 11 RD blocks would be developed as gender immersion sites, while Food, Nutrition, Health and WASH (FNHW) and Panchayati Raj Institutions – Community Based Organisations (PRI-CBO) convergence efforts would follow universalisation strategy.
He said enterprise promotion for vulnerable communities such as the elderly SHGs and SHGs for persons with disabilities would be explored in target areas and 80% SHG households would be covered for promoting agri-nutri gardens to encourage diet diversity and improve nutritional intake.
Grounding of enterprise finance initiative to 110 SHGs and insurance coverage across all districts to 80,000 SHGs were also part of key focus areas. Altogether 4,92,600 digital transactions through 330 business correspondent (BC) channels would be enhanced and 400 producers groups would be promoted, while 600 woman farmers would be engaged in millet enterprise as part of initiatives for International Year of Millets.
Further, he said 20 integrated farming clusters (IFC) of three to five villages covering 5,100 households have also been targeted, while placement of 1,670 rural youth in various jobs and promotion of 1,224 rural enterprise were also being focused upon.
Managerial staff from all districts and 74 RD blocks of Nagaland are participating in the workshop, which will take stock of progress of each district and block with reviews by the State mission management unit (SMMU), NSRLM. DRDA project directors (PDs) and BDOs of some blocks also attended the inaugural session.
In his speech, Dimapur DRDA PD Kethosituo Sekhose spoke about the remarkable progress that women were making across the State, whereby their role was shifting from that of a homemaker to leader in the society. He exhorted the staff to facilitate women to understand that every saving they were making now would go a long way to benefit not only their children, but their future generations as well.
Talking about the importance of convergence with other departments where similar works were being carried out, he encouraged the participants to find out ways and means to work together for the benefit of the community. He appreciated NSRLM’s efforts under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana on investing in the youth.
Detailed roll-out plans would be presented on Day-2 of the workshop and overall plans of each district would be prepared as per the State AAP. This was stated in a press release.
