Preparatory meeting for CFR training

Can Youth, in partnership with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), held a preparatory meeting on Community First Responder (CFR) training with Ward Councilors of Chümoukedima Town Council (CTC) on June 18 at DC Conference Hall, Chümoukedima.
Additional Deputy Commissioner and CEO, DDMA Chümoukedima, Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo, introduced the objective of the meeting, stressing the importance of CFR training. Rendemo Shitio, Nodal Officer, DDMA Chümoukedima, highlighted the critical role of Community First Responders (CFRs) in disasters, noting that effective action is vital even with limited personnel. He warned of increasing disaster intensity in the coming years and stressed the need for resilient infrastructure and preparedness.
Founder and Chief Functionary of Can Youth, Jenpu Rhakho Rongmei, emphasized that CFR training was not just about disaster response, but also about building unity and strengthening community networks. He shared that the first and second phases of training were successfully completed in Dimapur, with support from the Dimapur district administration and Municipal Council.
The training will focus on first aid, CPR, and rescue operations, with thematic roles assigned based on trainees’ strengths. Greater participation of women was encouraged, recognizing their key role in community resilience.
The meeting was chaired by Nuyelu Nyekha, program manager, Can Youth, while Zhove Lohe, secretary and director, Can Youth, led the prayer.
