Various programmes and activities were organised for the students and faculties by the educational institutions as part of their academic and extracurricular activities.
ANPSA Wokha Unit felicitates HSLC toppers
All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA) Wokha unit organised a felicitation programme for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2024 toppers Thursday at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Youth Centre Hall.


During the programme, ANPSA Wokha unit felicitated the four toppers, namely Nchumbemo R Lotha (Rank 7) from Isaiah Ability Higher Secondary School, Ruth Y Lotha (Rank 14), Meriyani C Humtsoe (Rank 17) and Zaren Taslim Khandakar (Rank 17), all from Libemo Memorial School.
Delivering a keynote address, ANPSA Wokha unit president, K. Edward Ngullie, congratulated the toppers for their well-deserved and incredible achievements and encouraged them to seek higher goals and pursue them with girds and determination.


“Today’s achievement is the first step for greater things to come in life and one should prepare oneself at all times and take every challenge head on with a positive attitude” said Ngullie. Delivering a speech on behalf of the toppers, Nchumbemo R Lotha credited his success to the almighty God, his parents, school administrator and all his teachers. He encouraged everyone to have faith in God and believe.
The programme was chaired by headmistress, Santsüo School, Phyochobeni Khuvung, DBHSS principal Fr. Joseph Cherian invoked God’s presence and blessing with a Bible reading and prayer, a welcome address was delivered by ANPSA Wokha unit general secretary, Rinton Lohe, Eranbeni Z Humtsoe of Perennial School enthralled the gathering with a special song, Isaiah Ability Higher Secondary School administrator, Mhalo Ovung delivered the vote of thanks and benediction by headmaster Cistus School, Rev. Dr. Mhonyamo Ngullie.


The programme was attended by present class X students of all the 18 strong member schools of the association, along with teacher guide and parents of the toppers.
Tetso College & NU organise exposure trip
Tetso College, Dimapur, in collaboration with the department of English at Nagaland University organised an exposure trip for its students to the Meriema Campus, Thursday. The trip aimed to foster a dynamic exchange of ideas and thoughts between students and faculty members from both institutions.
Two distinct sessions were conducted, each moderated by faculty members. Dr. Alik Roy and Dr. Putchong Thai, assistant professors from Tetso College, led the sessions, guiding discussions and facilitating engagement.


The introductory sessions were delivered by Chibeni Merry and Dr. Rosy Tep, assistant professors at Tetso College.
Both students and faculty members from Nagaland University and Tetso College showcased their intellectual prowess through paper presentations, enriching the discourse with diverse perspectives and scholarly insights.
Dr. R Vasanthan, Associate Professor of the department of English, NU, and Professor Nigamananda Das, head of the English department of NU, delivered closing remarks, emphasising the importance of such collaborative initiatives in nurturing academic excellence and fostering intellectual growth.
SJU organises ‘3rd national level ESTRIBOS 2024’
The department of civil engineering, St. Jospeh University (SJU) Chümoukedima organises a 3rd national level technical symposium, “ESTRIBOS 2024”, focusing on improving the ability and creativity of the students. During the event, the chief guest, senior scientist, Centre for Advanced Civil Engineering Research, Dr. Leon Raj J, gave an informative presentation on the design and execution of pile walls at Munnar. He addressed the pressing issues surrounding the design and execution of the secant pile wall project in Munnar.
Earlier, in a presidential address, vice chancellor, Dr. D Gnanadurai highlighted the importance of ensuring that the teaching-learning process remains dynamic and inclusive and the importance of research in engineering. He said obtaining an engineering degree without practical exposure would undermine its value and relevance in the professional realm.
Delivering a short speech, the special guest, principal scientist, Centre for Advanced Civil Engineering Research, Dipak Basumatari, highlighted geotechnical investigation and indigenous technologies in civil engineering.
NSS Sazolie College conducts sanitation drive
NSS Sazolie College: NSS units of Sazolie College conducted a sanitation drive with an aim to raise awareness among the public regarding cleanliness and hygiene while nurturing a sense of responsibility among the students on May 2. The drive was as a follow-up activity as part of the collaboration with the National Clean Air Program (NCAP) for various outreach initiatives aimed at promoting environmental awareness and fostering a pollution-free environment.
Students participated in cleaning the college premises, classrooms, and collecting garbage in and around Vira Lozi.
Meanwhile, the NSS units of Sazolie College extended appreciation to the Kohima Municipal Council for their assistance in providing a garbage disposal truck for the day.
