The phase-III of Rev. Moa Longchari Cancer Foundation (RMLCF) tobacco-free campaign 2025 was held on April 25 at Kevilhouü Rio Auditorium, G Rio School Kohima.
At the campaign, resource person, Putuonuo Hospital, Kohima, Consultant Cancer Surgeon, Dr. Keduovinuo Keditsu, spoke on the harmful effects of tobacco, especially on school children. She urged them to say no to tobacco and be responsible citizens.
A representative from the National Tobacco Control Programme, Kohima district, spoke on the COTPA Act 2003 and its regulations on tobacco use.
RMLCF president Khrienuo Moa informed that around 360 students and teachers from 22 Kohima schools joined the programme. She said the tobacco-free campaign, started in 2023, aims to raise awareness among school children about tobacco’s harmful effects.
As part of the campaign, tobacco-free clubs were launched in schools and are still active, she said and further encouraged students to participate and be change makers.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Chandmari Higher Secondary School, vice principal, Nzanbeni Tsopoe, invocation by Oking Christian School, administrator, Zhopota Rhakho, Christ King Higher Secondary School presented a song and Vikuo Metha shared testimony.
