DIMAPUR: The Sub‑Divisional Planning & Development Board (SDPDB) Pughoboto organised a felicitation programme for best performing schools and meritorious students of HSLC and HSSLC Examinations 2026 at the ADC’s office, Pughoboto, on May 12.
According to DIPR report, the programme was held in line with the resolution adopted during the January 2026 SDPDB meeting, whereby the Educational Trust Fund was earmarked to recognise outstanding schools and students within the subdivision.
Under the Award for Academic Excellence 2025–26, Government High School Lazami was adjudged best performing government school in HSLC 2026 for securing 100% pass percentage, while New Foundation School, Pughoboto, received the award in the private school category for achieving 100% pass result. HSLC toppers Vitovi, Katoni and Jekito from Government High School Ighanumi were also felicitated with cash awards.
Addressing the gathering, SDPDB chairman Dr. Sukhato A. Sema MLA congratulated the schools and students for bringing laurels to the subdivision, stressing perseverance and hard work as keys to success. He highlighted that the Educational Trust Fund was a collective monthly contribution by board members to support underprivileged students and strengthen education. He also lauded Government Higher Secondary School Pughoboto as one of the best in the state.
Sumi Aphuyemi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SAKK) president Yekivi P. Sumi described the event as a celebration of hard work and dedication, while social group Insightknots extended support under its “Mission Help” initiative, presenting cash awards of Rs. 10,000 each to Kumghato (GHSS Laza) and Vitovi (GHSS Ighanumi).
The programme was led by GHSS Pughoboto principal Khekaho Achumi, invocation by Sulito Swu Achumi, associate pastor women, Mishilimi Baptist Church and concluded with vote of thanks by vice chairman SDPDB and ADC Pughoboto, Meyazungba Jamir, who commended teachers for their dedication and assured continued support to the student community.
Earlier, the SDPDB meeting chaired by Dr. Sukhato and co‑chaired by ADC Meyazungba Jamir discussed establishment of a health sub‑centre at Ighavito village, introduced newly posted SDAO Viwoto Zhimomi, and distributed brush cutters to five beneficiaries. Dr. Sukhato reiterated SDPDB’s commitment to accountability, people‑first administration, social justice, and improved education, healthcare and connectivity across 24 villages. He also informed that a new natural farming scheme would soon be implemented in seven cluster villages.
