DIMAPUR: Sub Divisional Officer (Electrical), Longleng, Moichung Shembu Phom, has informed the residents and electricity consumers of Longleng town that installation of smart meters is being carried out in the district headquarters under the Government of India’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), a power sector digitalisation initiative.
In accordance with official directives, all electricity supply must be managed through a properly functioning meter.
According to DIPR report, the SDO stated that smart metering, aims to improve transparency, billing accuracy, energy management and overall efficiency of electricity services. The installation process is being conducted strictly through authorised agencies and officials, and consumers have been requested to extend cooperation to personnel during the ongoing work.
The public has been strongly advised not to spread or circulate misleading information regarding smart meters, as unverified claims may create unnecessary confusion and fear.
