In view of the surge in Covid-19 cases and positivity rate, Nagaland government on Monday declared the areas under Dimapur Municipal Council, Kohima Municipal Council, New Capital complex Kohima, Chumukedima Town Council, colonies/villages along Dimapur- Chumukedima four lane road, with effect from 7 p.m. May 5 till May 12.
According to the order issued by the chief secretary and chairperson of State Executive Committee
Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, J. Alam, more restrictions have been placed.
Mass/religious gatherings closed: Among other activities banned as per the order, all places of mass gathering to be closed including religious places, except for solemnization of weddings with prior permission of the deputy commissioner, across the state.
Odd-even system: Movement of all private passenger vehicles shall be allowed to ply on ‘Odd-even” system, with an occupancy of 50 %.
While public transport vehicles (both public and private) like buses, taxis, autos two- wheeler taxis etc. shall be allowed to ply with occupancy of 50%, with a maximum limit of 25% of such vehicles in the district, for which the District Task Force of the respective district shall lay down modalities.
Food delivery service providers and groceries delivery service providers have also been exempted.
Meanwhile, the districts/blocks/areas other than those under “containment zone” will continue to be covered under the guidelines issued on April 29 and they may decide the restrictive measures in their respective containment zones as and when needed. The respective District Task Forces (DTFs) may continue with the ‘Night Curfew’ and other restrictions in their respective jurisdictions, over above the restrictions imposed, the order stated.
DTFs have also been directed to ensure strict enforcement of the restrictions, checking at the district entry points to prevent non-essential movement of persons etc.
Any person/ group of persons acting in violation of this order shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
