The student bodies and youth organisations under Tening area, Peren district, which had on March 14, 2021 demanded repair and renovation of the 52-km dilapidated road from Peren-Tening before within 30 days, have “unanimously” decided to put on hold their “course of action” until further notice due to pandemic situation.
In a press release, All Nchangram Students’ Union (ANSU) president Kibouwi Zeliang has, however, stated that ANSU, Zeme Students’ Union (N) and Tening Students’ Union would launch “poster campaign” shortly within Tening area to show resentment over the state government’s “total failure” to comply ultimatum within a stipulated time.
The union said that the decision was approved after a series of deliberation with the leaders from various CSOs, public leaders, student leaders along with the sitting MLAs from Peren district.
AMSU said the decision to put on hold their “course of action” was taken in order was to avoid mass gathering at this critical juncture when Covid-19 cases were rising in Nagaland.
Meanwhile, the student and youth bodies have affirmed to put their trust on sitting MLAs for their “unflinching commitment and unwavering efforts to truly materialise our immediate demand on ‘Top Priority’ as and when there is an inflow of funds in our State.”
The bodies asserted that their collective efforts to execute “course of action” against the government would be initiated as and when intimated.
