Tetso College, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), and St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, jointly organised a two-day music and wellness workshop at MLCU Umsawli campus and St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School on July 21 and 22.
The workshop featured sessions on Khasi folk music, Indian classical music, and the healing effects of music.
Dr Mebanlamphang Lyngdoh spoke about traditional Khasi instruments like the Duitara, while Banrimika Dellis Iawim discussed the history of Indian classical music. Dr Donovan K. Swer led a session on music therapy and its role in reducing stress.
On the second day, N Shelao Konyak, Assistant Professor at Tetso College, conducted a music orientation session.
This was followed by a tabla demonstration by Dr Madhurjya Palit Borah and a harp demonstration by Risaka Pyrbot.
The programme concluded with a musical evening titled “AMusiCafe” at The Evening Club, Police Bazar, featuring performances by musicians from MLCU and Tetso College.
