Training on ‘post-harvest management & food losses’

A two-day training on “post-harvest management and food losses in agri- horti crops” organised by State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) culminated on Friday.


A press release by SAMETI Medziphema Campus stated that the resource persons for the training were assistant horticulture specialist, Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH) Medziphema, Dr. Moasosang Longkumer, assistant professor, department of agronomy, NU, SAS Medziphema Campus, Dr. N. Kikon, and associate professor, department of entomology, NU SAS Medziphema Campus, Dr. Pankaj Neog. During the training, the resource persons deliberated on prospects, issues and challenges under horticulture post-harvest sector in NEHR, factors affecting post-harvest life of horticulture crops, post-harvest management and food losses in field crops, storage pest management and handling and processing of king chilli pickle.


The trainees were also take The valedictory program was chaired by DPD SAMETI, Yezaho Swu; feedback on the training was given by all the participants; certificates were distributed to the trainees by director SAMETI and principal IETC; Dr. Watimongla Jamir.
