Lok Sabha MP, Tokheho Yepthomi has lamented that the sense of oneness and unity was missing among the Nagas, instead the feeling of hatred and disunity against each other have crept in the society.
He made this statement while inaugurating the rostrum at Naharbari Sports Complex, Naharbari village here on Monday. He said Nagas in reality were Christians only on Sundays as the present lifestyle of Nagas did not resemble how a Christian should be but rather it was opposite.
He admitted that Nagas have fallen in love with money so much that there were insecurities and jealousy amongst each other, where “one cannot see someone rise up and one cannot help someone who is in need”.
The lone Lok Sabha MP from the state also pointed out that elections in Nagaland were the dirtiest of all, where Nagas speak of clean election but in reality, it was not put into practice. He further said that Nagas love and greed for money has caused self destruction upon itself.
He said in other states, even if there was a power cut for five minutes, or no water supply or bad roads, people raise up their voice in unity and protest against the government. However, in the case of the Nagas, people were not able to do so because their mouths have been filled from before, Tokheho said. He further said that politicians were not the only ones that were to be blamed for anything and everything but everyone was responsible.
He later encouraged the gathering to change their way of life so as to pursue a better future. He also opined that disunity and disharmony amongst the Nagas was the reason the solution could not be achieved.
