US diplomats visit SJC Jakhama

Diplomats from US Embassy, New Delhi, minister counsellor for public affairs Walter Douglas, deputy director of the US Consulate General, Kolkata, and chief of media and public communication, Kolkata Erica Basu visited St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama February 3.
During their visit, the three officials interacted with student leaders on US-India relations and educational prospects for North-East India.
Addressing the students, Douglas said it was his first visit to Nagaland and has been introduced to another side of India. He pointed out the importance and speciality of the international alliance between India and US, which has been unprecedented by no other countries in the world.
He said the visit of US President Obama to India, for the second time on Republic Day this year was also a great symbol of friendship that did not happen with other countries.
Douglas encouraged for further cohesive relationship especially on the education field, fulbright scholarship and United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), which would benefits both countries mutually.
Welcome address was presented by Rev. Dr. Fr. Principal Abraham Lotha, students presented folk song and vote of thanks was pronounced by representative of student’s council.
