USSC calls for indefinite closure of govt schools in Sangtam areas

United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has announced its decision to impose “indefinite closure” of all government schools within Sangtam jurisdiction under Kiphire district, Longkhim sub-division and Tsithrongse, Sangtamtila, Mürise.


USSC said the closure of government schools would continue until the responsible authority addressed its three-point charter of demands, which include cancellation of transfer of teachers with post and without relievers and ensure equitable distribution of teaching staff; detach teachers from VIPs (MLA), directors, DEO, Sr. SDEO and SDEOs and redeploy them to their designated places of posting and redeployment of shortage of teachers in every mentioned school.


In a representation to the principal director school education, the USSC vice president Sethrongba Y Sangtam and education secretary Irothe T Sangtam informed that the decision was taken at an emergency tripartite of meeting with its executive, area officials and Sangtam intellectuals on September 8, 2023.


Further, USSC has directed all the heads of schools not to submit attendance report of teachers and students in the portal. It also informed that no staff under the establishment of DEO, Sr. SDEO, SDEOs and DMA under Sangtam jurisdiction were allowed to perform any activities till further notification from USSC office.
USSC cautioned that any individual or group failing to adhere to its directive would be doing so at their own risk.
